A dental bridge is similar to a partial but is permanently fixed in place. It can replace one or several missing teeth. Since it is cemented in place, you will never need to remove it for cleaning and will care for it like your natural teeth. The artificial teeth in your bridge will be made of beautiful porcelain, so they will look, function, and feel, just like your natural teeth.

How dental bridges work

A bridge is anchored to the surrounding healthy tooth with porcelain crowns. Artificial teeth are made of porcelain and crafted to perfectly match the color and shape of your natural teeth. As a neuromuscular dentist, Dr. Green makes sure that these artificial teeth work perfectly with you opposing teeth and do not interfere with a proper bite.

Dental bridge candidates

A dental bridge may be right for you if:

• You have a missing tooth or teeth
• You do not have adequate bone tissue for Dental implants
• You smoke
• The surrounding teeth are strong and healthy
• You want a permanent, fixed solution for missing teeth

In most cases, New Jersey Neuromuscular Dentist Dr. Green recommends dental implants over bridges, because the implants help to prevent bone and gum shrinkage which lead to facial collapse. However, many patients are not good candidate for implants, and bridges are a great alternative. Also, you may not be ready for the extensive nature of implant surgery, or simply may prefer a fixed bridge.
